Shannon Northroup LMT CSI Owner (OR LIC #20673, CO LIC #0021870, UT LIC #6828805-4701) Shannon Northroup is an LMT, Structural Integration Practitioner, Movement Educator and SOMATIC EXPERIENCING® (SE) student. With over 15 years as a bodywork practitioner, Shannon brings the experience of working in clinical, hospital, physical therapy and private practice settings. Her professional journey in the healing arts, as well as various other complementary fields (trained Childbirth Educator, Labor Doula, Hospice volunteer) have woven together to create a diverse platform to practice, teach and embody the concepts of Structural Integration (SI), Embodied Pelvic Care (EPC) and SOMATIC EXPERIENCING® (SE). Shannon has found each of these modalities to be an access point for deepening into relationship with one's own body. She's interested in how subtle movement patterns, perception and somatic awareness can powerfully shift relationships in the body, psyche and soul. Through hands-on/in bodywork, somatic and movement education individuals are able to shift long held patterning (physical and emotional) and move towards more balance and ease in their bodies and nervous systems. Shannon's intention is to provide a safe and accepting environment, offering individuals the opportunity to collaborate with their deeper body knowing and wisdom. In addition to her private practice in Hood River, OR., Shannon is an Structural Integration instructor at Northwest Center for Structural Integration, alongside her mentor Larry Kaufman. She also travels throughout the western United States offering Structural Integration, Embodied Pelvic Care and SOMATIC EXPERIENCING® (SE) sessions. She holds licenses in Oregon, Utah and Colorado.
Shannon is a graduate of the Healing Mountain Massage School (Salt Lake City, UT), Rocky Mountain Institute of Healing Arts- Heartworks Approach (Durango, CO), and The Northwest Center for Structural Integration (Portland, OR). She has trained as both a Childbirth Educator (CAPPA) and Labor Doula (Birthing From Within), as well as the STREAM School for Postpartum Care (Scar Tissue Remediation Education and Management) with Kimberly Ann Johnson and Ellen Heed. She is currently enrolled in Somatic Experiencing Practitioner training (Peter Levine's work) .
"We had the good fortune to receive some body work from Shannon when we were on tour. She has a true gift for healing and even though we were only able to have one session, the difference we both felt was immediate and strong. I highly recommend working with her, especially if you are able to do multiple, ongoing sessions. She is amazing!"
"Shannon is absolutely amazing. She is a gifted guide and practitioner that not only helped relieve my physical imbalances but aided me through my spiritual and emotional growth. I am forever thankful for her gifted work."
"Shannon is amazing. Her work is so precise! It's not often you find a therapist that can do that deep of work and make you feel nurtured and emotionally supported at the same time. My sessions with her have been invaluable and I would highly recommend her."
"Shannon is very skillful. In an age where many folks identify as healing practitioners after a number of required training hours, Shannon is the rare person who seems truly skilled and deeply engaged with her practice. The way that she practices Structural Integration feels collaborative, connected and guided by attention, as well as knowledge. I'm grateful for her time, attention and care. She helped my body feel better after 20 years of nearly constant back pain."
"Her intuitive wisdom and warmth are empowering, invoking a trust which allows a uniquely authentic experience. She has served my journey exponentially!"
"Shannon is a highly skilled professional who listens and cares about my issues. She is specific and intentional as she addresses them. I particularly appreciate her kindness, communication and individualized instruction as she works."
"When the body gets working appropriately, the force of gravity can flow through. Then, spontaneously, the body heals itself." ~Dr. Ida P Rolf
